Fantje na vasi (Boys from the village) Slovenian men’s a cappella singing group was formed in the spring of 1977 out of a love for the tradition of Slovenian men’s choral singing. The purpose of the group is to perpetuate Slovenian heritage through song,
specifically Slovenian men’s a cappella music. The group also sings in Latin and English.
In addition to its annual concert in the Cleveland area, the Fantje have been fortunate to travel to Slovenian communities in Chicago, Fairfield, Hamilton, Indianapolis, Johnstown, Milwaukee, New York, Toronto and Washington, D.C. In 1992, the group
was one of the first to perform in a newly independent Slovenia, as well as in Italy and
Austria. The Fantje have represented Slovenians at multi-cultural events such as at
New York’s Lincoln Center (Slavic Heritage Foundation’s annual program) and multiple times in Cleveland at the International Folk Festival.
